Are there any penalties for cancelling my/customer cancelling the TCI policy?
No, there are no cancellation or mid-term adjustment fees on this policy.
How do I cancel my policy?
You can call Paymentshield on 0345 601 1050 and their friendly customer services team will be able to help you.
When I move house/buy a house what do I need to do?
No problem! Your Tenants Contents Insurance is transferrable, so you can take your policy with you. If you buy a property, you’ll need to get a new home insurance policy. Speak to Paymentshield who can transfer the policy into a home insurance policy.
Who shall I contact to claim?
The insurer’s details will be on your Policy Certificate, just give them a call to make the claim, or use Paymentshield’s website to find out who to call.
I live in a flat share, are we all covered?
The policy covers anyone in the household, so that’s You, your partner and any other person permanently living with you named on your tenancy agreement.
What do you mean by an excess?
It’s the first part of the claim for which you are responsible (applicable excesses can be found on your Policy Certificate).
I work from home, is my business equipment covered?
Your Computer equipment, printers, photocopiers, computer aided design equipment, office furniture and furnishings and telecommunications equipment used in any way for business purposes are all covered. This does not include any property held as stock.
What do you mean by standard accidental damage?
As well as benefitting from accidental damage to the landlords property, you’re also covered for accidental damage to televisions, video and audio installations, computer equipment and games consoles, this all comes as standard on the policy.
Where can I find a list of what is and isn’t covered by my insurance policy?
All this can be found in the policy booklet, IPID and policy certificate.
If I have a fire, are my items covered?
You are covered up to the sum insured (the contents cover amount you select on the policy from £10,000 up to £50,000).
If there is a flood, will my items be covered?
You are covered up to the sum insured (the contents cover amount you select on the policy from £10,000 up to £50,000). If there is an escape of water (water escaping from washing machines, dishwashers or any fixed domestic water or heating installations) you will be covered. The excess for this will be shown on your policy certificate.
If items are stolen from my property will they be covered?
You are covered up to the sum insured (the contents cover amount you select on the policy from £10,000 up to £50,000).
I’m going on holiday for two weeks, am I still covered?
If you have selected the worldwide possessions cover you will benefit from articles of personal use when away from the home such as gadgets, mobile phones and bikes up to £15,000. The items that you’ll be leaving behind in the property will be covered for the usual risks (fire/theft/escape of water etc).
Will old things be replaced with new ones if I have to make a claim on my tenant’s contents insurance?
The policy provides cover on a new for old basis. During the process of a claim, the insurer will talk to you about replacement, repair or monetary compensation for your lost or damaged goods.
What do you mean by tenant’s legal cover up to £100,000?
You will benefit from up to £100,000 to help you pursue and defend your legal rights for instances like tenancy disputes, employment disputes, personal tax affairs and traffic offences.
What is Tenants Liability insurance?
Your legal liability as a tenant for accidental damage caused to the home, garden, buildings or any property belonging to the landlord, including household goods, furniture, fixtures and fittings, for which you are legally responsible. You can claim up to £10,000 per incident
